The
EnergySure Scheme is an agreed standard
for the selling of gas and electricity supply
contracts to domestic consumers through
a combination of an approved training process
and a register of accredited Sales Agents.
The EnergySure Scheme is a Competence Based
Accreditation Scheme intended for Sales
Agents and Assessors involved in energy
selling.
The Scheme is underpinned by a registration
process which records Sales Agent details
and issues registration cards for all Sales
Agents. Failure to achieve the required
competence standards may result in the Sales
Agent’s accreditation status being
withdrawn.
The Scheme sets out the required competence
standards for the Sales Agents and also
issues guidance on the recruitment processes
and the content of training required to
enable Sales Agents to achieve the required
standards. The Scheme operates through
Registered Centres who are deemed, following
both self-certification and independent
inspection, to have the necessary procedures
and processes in place to deliver appropriate
training, monitoring and assessment processes
to meet the EnergySure Standards The Registered
Centre is then able to accredit individuals
under the scheme who gain the EnergySure
Accreditation.
Where a Member contracts with a third party
for the provision of Sales Agents, the Member
must ensure that the third party complies
with all components of the Code and the
EnergySure Scheme in relation to Sales Activities.
The EnergySure accreditation differs from
traditional qualifications in the following
ways:
• it takes into account previous
relevant experience
• assessments are based on what happens
when the Sales Agent is engaged in Sales
Activities
• credit is given for what someone
can do and not just what they know
• by achieving accreditation on the
Scheme, Sales Agents will be proving competence
in a wide range of activities involved in
the face-to-face marketing of energy
• competence is assessed on a regular
basis and the accreditation may be changed
or withdrawn if a Sales Agent fails to achieve
the required competence standards
• although not a nationally accredited
qualification, the Scheme was initially
drawn up to with reference to the NVQ guidelines
from the QCA
