ERA response to Ofgem announcement on Fuel Poverty Action Programme, 30 May 2008
Duncan Sedgwick, chief executive of the Energy Retail Association, commented on today’s Ofgem & BERR announcements on fuel poverty:
“We are delighted with the Government’s decision to share data with energy suppliers, to enable greater targeting of funds to vulnerable customers. Data sharing is integral to helping suppliers to reach Britain’s poorest families. We are looking forward to working on these plans in the coming months.
“The industry has worked with Government on pilot initiatives such as the winter mailout to 250,000 pensioners this last winter, so this is a great opportunity to build on these learning experiences and get help to more people.”
