ERA response to uSwitch release on low income families and dual fuel tariffs

"It is hardly surprising that people didn't switch energy supplier 20 years ago as people didn't have any choice at that time! Since competition started to be introduced 10 years ago, we have developed the most competitive energy market in the world*. Dual fuel tariffs are inevitably cheaper so that is a choice that the consumer can make if they wish.

We would encourage everyone to check that they are on the best tariff for their home. If anyone is worried about affording their energy bill and wants free advice on how to access grants and benefits then they should call the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99.
